Help on the route

How the walk works

The walk is designed to be easy to use on your own phone. These are the questions that may come up while you are on the route.

Before you start, turn on sound, choose "Allow" for location access and consider using earphones.

Main questions

Why does my phone ask for location access?

The route uses your location only to recognise which story point you are standing near. Choose "Allow" if your phone asks for permission.

The films do not open automatically. What can I do?

Check that location access is allowed, your internet connection works and you are close enough to the story point. Refresh the page if needed.

I cannot hear the sound. What should I check?

Turn up your phone volume, switch off silent mode and use earphones or headphones if that is more comfortable.

Can I pause the walk and continue later?

Yes. You can pause, have coffee, visit a shop and continue later. Keep the page open or open the route again.

Is my location stored?

No. The site uses your location only on your own phone to open the right film in the right place. We do not store your location.

Do I have to follow the numbers in order?

No. The numbers suggest a logical order, but you can start and stop wherever you like. Your phone recognises which story point you are near.

Before you start

Quick check

  • You do not need to install an app.
  • You need an internet connection to load the map and films.
  • The films are easiest to watch with your phone held horizontally.
  • Walking with several phones? Open the route on each phone.

If something stops

Simple fixes

  • Allow location access in your browser settings.
  • Refresh the page if the map or film gets stuck.
  • Stay near the story point for a moment until the film opens.
  • Check that your phone is not in low power mode.

Language and subtitles

Following the films

  • Some films offer subtitles.
  • Language versions show matching subtitles where possible.
  • Dutch dialect can later be supported with standard Dutch subtitles too.
